Colette : Chéri

By Małgorzata Mikos - 13.8.17

Chéri is a love story between a young man of twenty-five, Chéri, and his twenty-four years older mistress, Lea. Their days are full of love, happiness, cute words and promises. And their relation is just a love game.

Their affair lasts a few years until his marriage. Then everything changing, both of them are suffering. Day by day they are losing something important, a part of oneself. And such a day is coming when Chéri becomes bored with his wife and becomes distant from her claiming everything his wife says and does is wrong because it is not Lea - the woman who he is admiring.

Finally he is making a decision. He returns to Lea, because he wants to feel the same as long time ago. They spend one last night together before they both recognize the inevitable. She knows that time is their enemy and that their relation doesn't have future. She is bluntly reminding him that she is an aging woman whose charms for him are going to soon fade.

They have to face the facts - the god of love and the god money weren't good enough to them because everything what gave them happiness to that time was only for a limited time.
