Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.
The Picture of Dorian Gray isn't a
standard book about which you would write a few words and everything
would be great. This book is a real masterpiece.
The story is beautiful but tragic,
amazing but cruel, a little bit normal but written wonderfully. It's
like the place where the dark ocean is the blue sky and the blue sky
is the dark ocean.
So what if you could be youthful
forever, would you do it? Think about it - young and beautiful, full
of the energy and experiencing zillion things, when the other people
would grow old, became ugly, died, passed. What would it cost you –
love, friendships, your pride and soul, everything?
Would it be
worth it? Would you do it?
Dorian Gray, the main character, had a wish – always be young and
beautiful. He wanted to life forever. And one day he got such a
possibility because of one painting. The painting of him, Mr Gray. Since that moment everything what he is doing, every single of his sin,
every passing day was a flaw in the paining.
After many years of his luxury life,
something is dying inside of him when he notices the enormousness of
damage of his own soul. When he see his real face kept in the
painting.
Some things are more precious because they don't last long.
Why you should read it
This book is a masterpiece, but I
already wrote it. This story shows what is happening when the man
wants to be a god, when the man wants to be immortal.
Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Things to look out for
Fight between identity, experience,
beauty and accountability. The triumph on senses over reason.
Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic.
