Olivier Bourdeaut : Waiting for Bojangles

By Małgorzata Mikos - 19.1.18

"Waiting for Bojangles" is a short story of Louise and George, an eccentric couple, who enjoy every second of the life. Their everyday life isn't normal and only black & white; it's something remarkable, surprising, just like a million colors and tastes. They're dancing to the music of Nina Simone's Mr Bojangles, changing their names, drinking colored cocktails at all times of the day and the night. They are just happy.
The whole story is described by their son, who saw everything, but not always has understood everything. Even words written by his father about his beloved wife who was sick. The story of their first meeting, falling in love, understanding and accepting Louise as she is and trying to keep their family together even during the hardest moments.
His love to Louise was so deep that in the end took everything - both of them.

Why you should read it

This book is magical. It's about love and sacrifices, about enjoying the moment. The story isn't a typical love story, but a story of love and darkness. And about life and death.

Things to look out for

I think there's a few things creating this story. Pure love to the person who needs your care, who need a different world to live and be happy. Sacrifices for people who you love. Loneliness hide behind the smile and jokes. Misunderstandings.

The last word about the book

"Waiting for Bojangles" is a short novel but it's full of emotions and magic. You can find inside everything: laughter, cry, love, hate, silence , sounds of "Mr Bojangles". This book is for everybody.
If you love a good stories I'm sure you will like this one.
